Occasionally a collector has a special request. Might be a certain sized space in their home or office, a past subject they are interested in seeing revisited, or a personal effect they might want included in a painting. These require a dialog between the artist and collector to determine the outcome of this customized artwork.
CommisSion Project #1
"Fishing Buddies" originated from a collector who invited me by to see a space in his home, wondering what I would do with it. His children are certainly a focus, so my mind ran from there. He had quite a bunch of possible props, I pondered them to create a cohesive narrative. The initial sketch shows my idea - sometimes I think the collector needs as much imagination as I do (or a wonderful blind trust in me!).
CommisSion Project #2
"Hamsternaut" occurred over the phone and emails. I knew I had a relatively wide space to fill, and in our conversations I heard children having fun with Lego figures and talk of a hamster. I knew I had to get permission from the children to have the Lego figures send their hamster to space!
